As a science communicator and educator, my work touches on a few different, related areas. Learn more about what I do and my approach.

Education leader
I created and now lead the Allen Institute’s Education and Engagement program. The Allen Institute has a uniquely deep commitment to open science – my work enables scientists, educators, and students to use open resources for their research and learning. I focus on curating/overseeing new content, educational programs for students, professional education for educators and scientists, public programs, mentoring participating scientists, and program management.

Science communication trainer
Besides doing science communication and education myself, I also lead training for others to develop their skills. I co-founded and co-lead the Allen Institute SciComm@Allen training program, and work with outside organizations and individuals. My approach is highly informed by my theater background – for performance and beyond!

Science and theater
My theater experience influences my approach to science education, writing, and coaching others in science communication. I’ve been onstage, backstage, and in the production office, from appearing as Annie in Annie to directing a production of Proof by David Auburn that explored the intersection of science and the arts. Most recently, I am involved with Infinity Box Theatre Project, which explores science and theater.
