Science outreach at home

About 1/3 of the world’s population, including me, are under various levels of stay at home orders. This is a difficult time for everyone, and I know there’s a special challenge for teachers and parents looking for some level of continuity in their children’s educations. A couple of things from me that are available right now and online:

You can now request me on Skype a Scientist to talk to your class or kids! I’ll talk about my experience in neuroscience research or my current work in neuroscience and cell biology education and outreach, or take the tough questions about the science of zombies, Frankenstein, werewolves, or witches. Teachers can request that I talk to your whole class, or parents can request me for their family. (I will continue to renew my availability on Skype a Scientist indefinitely, but it does ask me to re-register after every 5 sessions. If I’m missing from the website, it just means my re-registration hasn’t been processed yet!)

For some fun viewing at home, check out the videos from my Halloween science talks! All four are kid-friendly and run about an hour, including not-to-be-missed Q&A. (Seriously, the question time is the best part.)
