The time has come to crown my favorite books of 2015! There were 46 contenders, clocking in at just under 20,000 pages total. Read on for my favorites, or check out my statistics companion post.
I decided that it just wasn’t fair to try to crown an overall winner. (Ok, that’s not totally true. I decided I didn’t want to make that kind of hard choices.) My categories are:
Fiction: (1) fictional (duh), and (2) not part of a series.
Non-fictional: are not fictional (also duh).
Series: (1) two or more books set in the same universe featuring at least some of the same characters, (2) that I read more than one of during 2015.
Graphic novels: pictures told with stories, which may be originally written as novels (like Nimona) or collected editions of comics (like Sandman).
And the winners are….
Fiction:
The Martian, Andy Weir
Station Eleven, Emily St. John Mandel
Non-fiction:
Between the World and Me, Ta-Nehisi Coates
The Emperor of All Maladies, Siddhartha Mukherjee
Series:
The Dresden Files, Jim Butcher
Outlander, Diana Gabaldon
Graphic novel:
Castle Waiting Vol 1 and 2, Linda Medley
Graphic novels are going to be a much bigger player in 2016, I think…
